| 1968 GTO Convertible Follow along as we continue the build of the Tempest (GTO) |
The portions of the Tempest that are fit for future use have been blasted with an environmentally friendly variation of soda blasting. The body structure is in good shape, but the sheetmetal will require lots of work. These trunk pans are in desperate need of replacement. The right floor pan half is removed and a new piece is laid in its place. The left floor half is mounted in and mated to the right side, completing the front floor replacement. Both floor halves are solidly welded into place. The floor pans are not welded along the brace, as many restoration shops do. All of the factory spot welds are replicated for a clean appearance. Once the front pans are installed, the rear seat pans are removed and new ones are mounted into place. The underside view of the rear seat pans installed.
