HCC painter Steve Farris cleans any lint or debris from the surface prior to laying on the next coat of Carousel Red. Steve begins to clear coat the visible side of all loose pieces. All loose pieces are now painted and clear coated front and back. We are ready to wet sand the pieces and rebuild the body of the car. That time is told in AM hours. What is everyone else doing at this hour of a Friday night? We're color sanding pieces! Fast forward to Saturday night. This time it's about 2 am, with no end in sight. Steve is buffing a high gloss into the GTO. Fatigue is beginning to set in. Overhaulin' doesn't have anything on HCC Performance! It's 8:00 AM Sunday morning. Steve and Tim have been at it for 25 hours straight. Deadlines are hard on all involved. The car shows off the effort, though. At this time the previous morning, it was a body and almost a dozen loose pieces. It's now assembled, buffed out, polished, and metal glazed. Note the smoothness of the panels, reflecting the lights in the booth. The car is now rolled into the mechanical assembly area. It will live here until it drives out under its own power. The new GM Performance Parts long block is unwrapped and readied for plumbing and wiring. Spike reassembles the convertible top frame after soda blasting.
